Smokey Black & Violet Halo Eyes

I was inspired by makeup artist Linda Hallberg, yet again, to recreate this black and violet smokey halo eye look. This is not an exact replication of Linda’s makeup, just my own more wearable take on it!

Keep scrolling to see pics of my recreation as well as a full list of products used!

Dramatic Smokey Cat Eyes (Kim Kardashian Makeup Look)

Kim KW’s infamous makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, posted the photo below of an intense cat-eye look he created on Kim and I was instantly inspired to recreate it! I typically don’t do a lot of cat-eye/ winged liner looks, but I loved this photo and wanted to try something different.

MOTD: Halo Eyes & Bronzed Skin (feat. the Morphe 35O Palette)

I brought back a cult favorite to create this halo eye look- the iconic Morphe 35O eyeshadow palette. I paired this eye look with a pinky nude lip color to keep the focus on the eye makeup.

Keep scrolling for more pics and a full list of products that I used to create this whole look! I also included a picture of the palette, identifying which colors I used.

MOTD: Copper Smokey Eye + Nude Lippie

This makeup look was inspired by YouTube Beauty Guru Jaclyn Hill and her old school favorite eyeshadow- MAC’s Coppering.

I have had this eyeshadow in my collection for quite a while, but I never got around to creating an eye look with it-so here it is!

EYES

  • I used the Wet N Wild PhotoFocus eyeshadow primer
  • I used scotch tape to create a sharp winged effect with the eyeshadows.
  • I used the Tarte Tarteist Pro palette for the transition shades and to deepen up the crease, but any medium brown, dark brown, and black eyeshadows will do.
  • I packed the MAC eyeshadow in Coppering all over my lid using a flat concealer brush. I also sprayed my brush with a little bit of setting spray after picking up the shadow to intensify the color.
  • I removed the tape and applied a pair of the Kiss Shy lashes.
  • I blended the same brown shades I used in the crease on my bottom lashline.

FACE

  • Primed my skin using my Murad Oil Control Mattifier
  • For foundation, I used the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation in creamwhip
  • For concealer I used the Tarte Shape Tape in light/medium
  • I set my concealer and face makeup with the RCMA No Color powder
  • For bronzer, I used the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer
  • Contoured with the sculpt shade from the Tarteist Pro Glow palette
  • The highlighter I used is Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop

BROWS & LIPS

  • Lightly filled in my brows using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in dark brown
  • For lips, I lined them using the Essence lip liner in Natural. Then, I dabbed on a little bit of the Maybelline lipstick in Blushing Beige and applied the NYX Buter Gloss in Fortune Cookie overtop.

Pink & Violet Smokey Eye

One of my favorite eyeshadows EVER is Star Violet from MAC, so I wanted to do a look inspired by this shadow. I used Star Violet all over the lid and deepened up the outer corners and crease of my eyes using the purple shades from the Carli Bybel + BH Cosmetics palette. This eyeshadow will look absolutely gorgeous with any eye color too!

Greensmoke: Fall Makeup Look

I have another Fall inspired makeup look for y’all today! Typically Fall makeup consists of a warm eyeshadow looks and deep vampy lips, but I wanted to mix it up and add a subtle hint of color. The focus of this makeup look revolves around the MAC eyeshadow in the shade Greensmoke. It is a gorgeous mossy green shade with gold reflects that I think goes perfectly with a mauve lip color.

  • I used the Maybelline lipstick in the shade Mauve It (satin matte finish).

Purple Cut-Crease + Red Lip: Makeup Look

This is a more dramatic makeup look and let’s be honest, I probably would not wear this as a daily makeup look BUT I absolutely love how purple eyeshadows and red lips go together! Doing a cut-crease really does take a lot of precision, so this did take a little extra time, but I loved the result and it was definitely worth it!

Products Used:

Eyes

  • To get a precise winged effect, I used tape as a guide.
  • I applied a bone colored shadow from my Morphe 35O palette from my crease up to my browbone.
  • Applied the Maybelline Color Tattoo in shade Creamy Beige as a base all over my lid up to the crease.
  • I went in with MAC eyeshadow in Sketch (deep purple shade) and started to map out the cut-crease. I blended out the line with a pencil brush and a lighter purple shade from NYX (sorry I am not sure what the name is since I depotted it).
  • From the lid to the crease, I applied the matte bone shades from both the Morphe 35O palette and the Carli Bybel & BH Cosmetics palette. It is not necessary to go in with two shades from two different palettes, but I was just being high maintenance (lol). Any bone shade will work perfectly!
  • For the winged liner, I used the Maybelline gel liner in shade Eggplant.
  • For the bottom lashline and waterline, I applied the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in shade Purple Velvet and just blended this out.
  • I applied two good coats of Maybelline Falsies mascara to my top and bottom lashes.
  • I applied MAC Nylon eyeshadow to the inner corner and brow bone.

Face

  • I concealed any blemishes and discoloration with the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer in the medium shade.
  • I skipped a liquid foundation today and just applied the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte powder foundation in shade Sun Beige.
  • I used my L.A. Girl Pro Concealer in shade Creamy Beige under my eyes and on other high points of my face.
  • I set my undereyes with the NYX HD banana powder.
  • I used the Wet N Wild contour kit in shade Caramel Toffee for an extreme contour. I also dipped into the banana shade from the palette to sharpen up the contour underneath.
  • I applied the Maybelline Master Highlight in shade Mauve (I think these are being discontinued but they are so good!).
  • For highlight I used the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in shade Radiant Lights. This is a frosty pink shade and it is GORGEOUS!

Brows & Lips

  • For my brows I used the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer in shade Dark Brunette.
  • For my lips I used three products (high maintenance, I know). First, I used the Elf Matte Lip Color in shade Riach Red. Then I went in with the Revlon ColorBurst matte balm in shade Standout. Lastly, I topped it off with the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in shade Chocolate Apple.

I hope y’all enjoyed this look! It was a little outside my comfort zone but it was really fun to create!

What’s In My MAC Palette?

I LOVE the empty MAC Pro palettes! For the empty palette alone (inserts not included), they are only $8 and FREE SHIPPING on the MAC website! I love these palettes because they are sturdy and great for traveling. I definitely recommend using a little extra magnetic tape on the bottom of the pans (for non- MAC shadows) for a better and more secure hold.

I have a double sided pro palette which holds my ABH contour kit shades and some Wet N Wild blushes that I depotted, but I am just going to show my single one today because I personally think the colors are more exciting. Also, both the double and single sided palettes are $8. Purchasing these empty palettes will save you a ton of money because on the MAC website, the eyeshadow pans are only $6 rather than purchasing the pan in the compact. The individual pans from MAC come with a magnet already on the bottom so you can just pop it in the palette! This will also save you space and help declutter your makeup stash.

** If you depot 6 MAC eyeshadows, you can bring back the empty compacts to a MAC store and trade them in for a free eyeshadow or lipstick!**

I like how the cover is clear so I can see my shadows. The plastic cover is very thick and not as flimsy as the Z-Palette covers.

The two rectangular pans are “Blackout” from the UD Naked 2 palette and “Blackheart” from the UD Naked 3 palette (I also depotted all the shadows from my Naked 2 and 3 palettes and put them in another pro palette, that way I could toss the bulky packaging and have them all in one spot).

I hope y’all enjoyed this post and go out and buy your own Pro Palette or saw some shadows that you really liked. It is so satisfying to depot eyeshadows and reduce some of that clutter!

June Beauty Favorites!

I have a bunch of beauty products that I have been loving this month! Some of these I have had for a while that I have re-discovered and have been using the heck out of!

Wet N Wild Color Icon Bronzer in “Bikini Contest”

june 13

This bronzer is GORGEOUS! It is the perfect bronze shade. The texture is very smooth and the pigmentation is great. This is not a matte bronzer, but it is also not glittery at all. It just gives the perfect bronzed and glowy look, perfect for summer. I would not recommend using this as a contour shade or if you are very fair because it is very warm- toned.

Covergirl Tru Blend Bronzer in “Bronze”

june 6

This is another drugstore bronzer that I have been obsessed with. This one is more subtle than the Wet N Wild one and is not as warm. This bronzer will work better with a wider variety of skin tones. Again, this is not a matte bronzer, but is not super glittery and gives a gorgeous summer glow.

Lancome Blush Subtil in “Blushing Tresor”

june 7

This is a beautiful blush that I have been using almost everyday. It is a peachy toned blush with golden reflects in it, so it gives a natural flushed and highlighted look.

MAC Eyeshadow in “Nylon”

june 10

This is one of MAC’s most popular eyeshadows and in my opinion, it is the perfect brow bone and inner corner highlight. It is a frosty highlight shade with a slight yellow undertone and it absolutely gorgeous. After using it for the first time, I understood why everyone always talks about this shade!

Wet N Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Palette june 1

This highlighting palette is so pretty! The colors are gorgeous and can be used individually or you can mix them all together. I love how the strips are big enough to dip your brush into each one if you just want a specific shade. There is a lot of kick off when you go to pick up the product with a brush, but the pigmentation is great and it looks beautiful on the cheekbones.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Air-Dry Waves foam

june 8

I am not a big fan of putting styling products in my hair, but I love this stuff! It does not leave my hair feeling “crunchy” and gives a beachy wave look. My hair is already naturally wavy/ curly so this just enhances in a way that looks natural and effortless. All I do is I apply 2-3 pumps into the palm of my hands and massage/ squeeze it into my hair from root to tip. It gives great volume and reduces some of the frizz.

Murad Oil- Control Mattifier

june 9

This product has been a life saver for me all month! You apply it as a moisturizer (I only like to use it on the days I am going to be doing my makeup) and it does a great job of keeping oily skin at bay. I also do not have any issues applying makeup over top of this, but you can still use your everyday makeup primer overtop of this between the Murad and your makeup. It is a pretty thick consistency (feels like my normal facial sunscreen) but it does not feel heavy and sinks into the skin quickly.

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo

june 2

This might seem like an odd product, but this has been my favorite way to clean my brushes. It leaves them feeling extremely soft, rinses out really easily, and of course gets every bit of makeup out of the brush hairs.

Elf Stipple Brush

june 5

This has been my favorite brush to apply bronzer and even blush. The brush hairs are really soft and not too dense so they apply product very softly and evenly. Love it!

Real Techniques Small Setting Brush & Retractible Bronzing Brush

The small setting brush is the only brush I have been using to set my under eye area and other places I have applied concealer. I have also been using this brush to clean up my contour underneath the cheekbone because it is just the perfect size!

The retractible bronzing brush has been my go-to brush not for bronzer, but for foundation. It is a stipple brush, but the brush hairs are more densely packed than the Elf stipple brush, so I find that it applied foundation beautifully without leaving patches and soaking up too much product.

Lip Combo: Wet N Wild MegaLast lipstick in “Just Peachy” and NYX Butter Gloss in “Fortune Cookie”

I have been using this lip combo basically every time I have done my makeup the past few weeks. Y’all already know how much I love the NYX Butter Glosses, but this shade just looks so good just applied in the center of the lips overtop of the Wet N Wild lipstick. This combo looks so pretty with bronzed makeup!

How To: “Kylie Jenner” Lip Color

Yes, I know this is something that is over-talked about and has been a trend for over a year now, but I have FINALLY found the perfect “Kylie Jenner Lip” from the drugstore!

I am going to give you a more expensive MAC option (for all you MAC fanatics out there who probably already have these) and I am also going to give a drugstore option which is way less expensive but still gives the same effect.

First, the liners:

Lining your lips (or over- lining your lips if that is something you’re into) is key to achieving the infamous “Kylie Lip”. For more staying power, line and fill in your lips completely with a liner before going in with a lipstick.

IMG_6445

Left to Right: MAC Spice ($17), Jordana Rock N’ Rose ($2), Milani All Natural ($4)

IMG_6440

As you can see by the swatches, these liners are all basically the same. The only difference is that the MAC one has more of a red tone to it, but you will still get the same result with any of these liners. Also, the Jordana and Milani liners are more creamy than the MAC formula, but I find that they last just as long!

Next, the lipsticks:

My favorite MAC lipstick of all time is Velvet Teddy and this is the shade I use to get the “Kylie Lip” look. I have found a great drugstore dupe though that I like just as much!

IMG_6446

Left to Right: MAC matte lipstick in Velvet Teddy ($17), Maybelline matte lipstick in Nude Nuance ($5-6)

IMG_6444

The Maybelline lipstick option is deeper than the MAC lipstick but it still gives the same look. I almost prefer the Maybelline lipstick because it is a much creamier formula than the MAC one! The only downside is that it does not have the same staying power, but I personally do not mind having to reapply throughout the day because it is more moisturizing. I also added a NYX Butter Gloss on the side in the shade Madeleine if you want a glossier finish!

I hope this helped anyone who is still on the hunt for drugstore (or MAC) options to get that infamous lip color! I still love the dusty rose tones and feel that it looks great on any skin tone!
